Grant for Every Woman's Life Program to provide free cancer screenings for 900 uninsured women
Virginia Department of Health grants $397,544 to Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation.
Bon Secours in Richmond, Virginia operates the largest Every Woman's Life Program provider site in the commonwealth. The latest $397,544 grant secured from the Virginia Department of Health brings Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation's support for the program to nearly $5 million since 2007. Over 13,000 life-saving cancer screenings have been provided by Bon Secours through this program over the past 15 years.
Virginia's Every Woman's Life Program provides access to free breast and cervical cancer screening services at no cost to women who are uninsured or low-income. Screening and early detection reduces death rates, improves treatment options, and greatly increases survival.
Services provided by the program include a clinical breast exam, mammogram, pelvic exam, Pap test, and any diagnostics needed to reach a final diagnosis. If a woman enrolled in Every Woman's Life Program is diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer she may be eligible for Medicaid to pay for treatment.

Thanks to grants and donations to Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation, Kathleen had a number of free resources when she was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and uterine tumor. She received a free exam, screening and diagnostic tests at Bon Secours' Every Woman's Life Program clinic. A Bon Secours financial assistance program for uninsured patients covered the cost of her surgery, and Kathleen continues to focus on her wellness through free yoga and meditation classes.
