Why We Give: To keep our spirits connected to the ministry
Deacon Dan Waters spent two decades in service to the Mercy Health ministry. As a member of the pastoral care team, he provided spiritual care to all. He prayed with patients having the worst days of their lives and caregivers navigating everyday challenges.
During his time with the ministry, he saw firsthand the impact that donor support had on patient care. He also saw compassionate health care outreach in his community.
Even in retirement, Deacon Waters and his wife Brenda have continued to support the Foundation through donations.
“The Foundation touched so many places. And, because of that, we’ve always felt that it’s important to continue that giving,” he says.
Deacon Waters believes that his continued support keeps him connected to the work that he was so passionate about during his career.
“My spirit is able to join with the spirit of what happens over there just through being able to still give,” he says.
