Kathy McCarthy has a special place in her heart for Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center. After all, that’s where her parents met.

For nearly four decades, Kathy has donated to support the important work that she and her mother saw firsthand as Mercy Health nurses. Now retired, Kathy still gives to support the Foundation.

“Between the experiences of my family, and my own longstanding career, it was important for us to support the mission of caring,” Kathy says.

Her family started the Phillip McCarthy Cardiac Care Fund in honor of the care her father received after his heart attack. The fund supports patients’ needs, nursing professionals and cardiac care providers.

“My mother wanted to establish a fund that would continue our connection to St. Vincent’s. When she became a patient herself in 2010, she was cared for by those same compassionate nurses we support.”
