Resource Mothers has given Nadine Mashburn more than practical help. The program has provided encouragement, guidance and peace of mind during the busy early years of motherhood. Thanks to your gift to support it, Nadine and her family are building a healthier life together.

“It’s been such a blessing,” she says. “They check on us, make sure we’re doing well and help with things that really make a difference for families.”

Nadine learned about Resource Mothers at a community baby shower event. At the time, she was pregnant with her youngest son, Hunter. She connected with a Resource Mother named Candy who has since visited the family monthly. Candy brings supplies like diapers and wipes, and also provides health education tailored to the family’s needs. Nadine says the visits offer both practical assistance and accountability. Her Resource Mother helps her stay focused on healthy habits for herself and her children.

Nadine also participates in Fresh Start Cooking classes. There, she learns about nutrition and how to prepare healthy meals together. The program even provides childcare during classes. This makes it possible for busy parents like Nadine to participate. Families leave with prepared meals, fresh produce and even donated books for their children.

For Nadine, both programs help ease financial pressures. They also create opportunities to learn, connect and grow as a family.

“With the cost of everything increasing, these programs really do make a difference for families like ours,” she says. “Whether donors see it personally or not, these programs truly help people. I’m very grateful for everyone who supports them.”
