As a newlywed, the first thing on Lauren Pittelko’s mind was starting a family. The last thing was learning she had breast cancer. But thanks to your gift to support Bon Secours Women’s Imaging - Harbour View, Lauren was able to catch it early.

“I still remember the day I got the dreaded phone call from my doctor. I thought it was a cyst. It was not. It was cancer,” she says. “In that moment, my entire world changed.”

Chemotherapy, followed by surgery and radiation treatments, took place in short order.

“Everything happened incredibly fast after my diagnosis,” says Lauren. “The entire experience was physically and emotionally overwhelming. I kept holding onto hope for the future.”

Lauren’s positive attitude was rewarded a few months later. Shortly after finishing treatment, she found out she was pregnant.

“I had been told that I might not be able to conceive on my own,” she says. “It was the most unexpected and beautiful blessing after such a difficult chapter of my life.”

Lauren thanks you for your generosity and supporting the services that discovered her cancer early. She is excited to start the next phase of her life.
