Your gift helped baby Emory arrive in safety and comfort
Kahdijah Ramey was expecting her second child. She was already looking forward to returning to Bon Secours — The Birthplace at Mary Immaculate Hospital to give birth a second time. What she didn’t expect was just how much your gift had changed the facility since her previous visit, and how much it would affect her experience.
“This one was totally different from the first time,” she says. “I thought it was one of the best experiences that I’ve had.”
As a Foundation donor, you supported a renovation of The Birthplace. Among other things, your gift purchased state-of-the-art bassinets to give new babies the finest accommodations available. The bassinets made a big difference for Kahdijah after giving birth.
“I am on the taller side and with the new bassinets, it was easy to adjust them up higher,” she says. “That made it easier for me to lean over from my bed into hers.”
The renovated rooms gave Kahdijah and her family ample room to visit and enjoy their newly expanded family together. The personal touches from the staff made a lasting impact as well. Kahdijah’s room was lit with purple lighting - her favorite color. An aromatherapy machine emitted a soothing lavender scent to help calm her nerves. The room was decorated with hearts and her daughter’s name.
“Having my second child there, you know, I got to experience something totally different, she says. “It was like, oh my gosh, y’all really thought about me. It was tailored for me. It was so peaceful. I’m forever grateful for the amenities and the experience.”
