Mercy Health – Toledo, OH

Megan is thriving as a resident physician, thanks to you

When you are working very long hours every week taking care of emergency patients, knowing someone has your back is important. Thanks to your gift to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs at Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center, third-year resident Megan Ostlie can focus on her patients with the support she needs.

“GME has benefited our residency program by providing funding for so many ER resident positions,” Megan says. “Our emergency department is busy, and we need a lot of hands to make it function smoothly. We are so lucky to have more than 40 residents training in emergency medicine at St. Vincent. GME always backs our program and ensures we have the support we need.”

Megan and her husband, Hunter, are both completing their medical education at Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center. They are grateful for the educational opportunities offered by the GME program. They are also thankful for even the small gifts that come their way.

“Just seeing a card in my mailbox for a free coffee can lift my spirits after a string of tough shifts. The monthly GME resident luncheons are something we all appreciate and look forward to. I’m confident that without our emergency medicine residents, St. Vincent would not be as great as it is!”

Megan is confident she speaks for her fellow residents when she expresses her gratitude for donors like you.

“Thank you!” Megan says. “Residency is as hard as it is rewarding. On hard days, it can be easy to feel caught in the mundane. When you donate time and money, it allows our GME program to give residents a sense of normalcy.”
