When it came time to have her baby, Michelle Lucius looked no further than the new Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital Family Birthing Center. Donor gifts provided everything she needed to have her baby, delivered locally among family and friends.

“I had to have a c-section. So I got to be in one of the new rooms that had just been completed,” Michelle says. “They were super nice. Everything was cozy in the room and our little family was able to be very close together. That alone made me more comfortable.”

“Having that facility here close to home and having so many more rooms for moms is great for our community. Thank you.”

One might think that when it comes to hospital rooms, bigger is better. But that’s not always the case. In fact, Michelle’s recovery room was designed to be more compact to put her closer to the restroom and other amenities as she recovered from surgery.

“I didn’t have to move around as much, which was nice because everything hurt,” she says.

Donor support is the reason Tiffin now has such a comfortable and convenient birthing center.

“The hospital is only 12 minutes from our home. It was nice that it was so close,” Michelle says. “Our doctor was here, so it was nice having continuity of care. The entire staff was absolutely phenomenal. They made everything very easy.”

Michelle is grateful to donors for providing the new birthing experience, both for her family and for the community.
