Lavonne got her annual screening on the mobile mammography van, thanks to you

Lavonne Hobson has two daughters and 10 grandchildren that she loves to care for. She calls them her world and because of that, she has one priority these days.

“I have to stay healthy for them,” she said. “I have to be here for my girls. I want to make sure I am always healthy enough to take care of my family.”

Lavonne has always relied on Mercy Health's St. Vincent Medical Center to help her do that.

“I’ve been going there since my girls were babies,” she said.

When her doctor reminded her that it was time to have her yearly mammogram, she decided she would try something new.

“I haven’t ever had a mammogram in the van before, so I thought it would be good to show support for it and to get it done quickly,” she said.

Lavonne is grateful that the mobile mammography van made it convenient for her and is available for those in her community who often sacrifice health care.

“There are a lot of low-income people in the community where Mercy is,” she said. “A lot of people can’t get to the hospitals to get mammograms so they can always come right there to the van.”

Mobile mammography is available for Lavonne and her community because of your generous gift.

“You don’t know what people are going through these days. To have something so convenient to get to and help people out in the community—I just thank you so very much.”
