Why We Give: Because strong communities need strong health care
Lee and Bonnie Burdman give back to invest in the Mahoning Valley they proudly call home. Longtime supporters of the Mercy Health Foundation, the couple regularly support community fundraising events like Panerathon and Bourbon & Bowties. They know every dollar helps strengthen local health care.
“Mercy Health has always been an important part of this community. Supporting it helps ensure everyone has access to quality care,” Bonnie says.
Bonnie, who serves on the Foundation Board, knows these events do more than raise funds. They bring people together around a shared purpose. She sees philanthropy creating stronger connections throughout the community.
“I love seeing people come together, have fun and support causes that make a real difference,” she says.
Lee shares that same commitment. He believes that philanthropy isn’t measured by the size of a gift, but by the willingness to participate.
“Not everyone can write the biggest check. But every dollar is meaningful,” he said. “Home runs are great, but even smaller hits can help score runs, too.”
