Kevin’s Story
Kevin’s faith is the Mercy Health difference
For Kevin Hall, ministry in health care is rooted in one of his favorite scripture stories - John 4:4-42.
“When Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well, she was like hospital patients who arrive carrying their own burdens, histories and hopes,” he says. “She was marginalized, and yet Jesus still chose to meet her with compassion and love her where she was.”
“That’s what chaplaincy is — meeting people when they feel most exposed and vulnerable and providing hope.”
Kevin is completing a chaplaincy internship at Mercy Health — St. Rita’s Medical Center. The internship program is supported by your donation. He is learning the full breadth of Mercy Health’s spiritual care and how it provides better patient care.
“We’re called into people’s lives on the worst day of their life, in moments of crisis and disbelief, when they are experiencing their most painful, vulnerable moments,” he says. “In all these moments, I aim to be a steady, empathetic presence — someone who helps others feel seen, heard and valued. I’m there to create space for the dignity of every person, especially in times of distress.”
Kevin is grateful that your generosity has allowed him to pursue this path.
“Because of you, I’ve been able to pursue my calling. This is something I simply couldn’t afford on my own,” he says. “Your investment is more than financial; it’s spiritual.”
