Why We Give: To move health care forward in our community

David and Ginnie Estrop believe in giving back while helping move their community forward. That’s why they support Mercy Health Foundation Clark & Champaign Counties.

“There are people who help move things forward,” says David. “And I would like to hope that Ginnie and I are doing that with our gifts, particularly around health care.”

Over the years, they have seen Mercy Health improve access to care in their community. They also know that progress only continues because of generous support. Through their gifts, they are helping the Foundation meet new challenges and seize new opportunities. That commitment has become even more important to them as they get older.

“One of the reasons we moved to Ohio was the excellent health care,” he says.

They also appreciate the way Mercy Health works alongside other organizations to provide the best possible care.

“All of that speaks loudly to us as to why they deserve, and receive, our support. Partnering is critical and they know how to do that.”

Carol McCoy’s Story

It was a routine annual mammogram for Carol McCoy. Until the results came back with a cancer diagnosis. Then it wasn’t routine at all. Carol was facing a stressful diagnosis with treatment options including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Thanks to donor support, Carol had a sense of calm. Their gifts to the Karen Teusink Integrated Breast Center at the Mercy Health — Springfield Regional Cancer Center meant Carol had a place that was dedicated to her care.
