You helped Becklyn get the care she needed pain-free

Max Curry is a vascular access nurse. When he talks about the new pediatric ultrasound probe donors funded, he often says how much it helps kids feel calm. He never expected his own daughter would benefit from it too.

His daughter, Becklyn, is two years old. She came down with severe croup, dehydration and dangerously low blood cell counts. She needed IV fluids and medication, but her tiny veins kept collapsing. Fortunately, your gift helped Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital obtain the tool needed to help his little girl.

“This equipment makes a huge impact on our ability to treat patients quickly,” he says. “It also eases the minds of parents. Because they know we have the resources to care for their children and keep them close to home.”

The high-frequency probe allows nurses like Max to see tiny veins just beneath the surface. It makes IV placement faster and far more successful on the first attempt. That precision makes an enormous difference.

When his own daughter needed care, Max did what he does for other children in crisis. Using the donor-funded probe, he secured Becklyn’s IV on the first try. Because of your gift, she was spared additional pain, and the team was able to stabilize her more quickly.

The experience was a powerful reminder that donor generosity supports more than equipment. It supports families.

“We’re just so grateful,” Max says. “Your gift truly made a difference for our little girl and for every child who comes through these doors.”
