Give women a convenient option for life-saving breast cancer screenings
Elizabeth stays on top of her health because of you
As a wife, mother and grandmother without health insurance, Elizabeth Hicks-Rucker depends on the annual mammograms provided at the Mercy Health — Northern Ohio Imaging Center. Your gift supports the program that makes sure Elizabeth stays on top of her health.
“Mercy Health has been a blessing in my life,” says Elizabeth. “I’m very thankful and very grateful that they are here. They are very professional and caring. You can tell that it’s genuine. I’m very, very thankful.”
Elizabeth has been a hair stylist for 43 years, but she only recently found her true calling. About 10 years ago she had an opportunity to work in a salon located in an assisted living center. That experience changed her life. She now works in four such facilities, both assisted-living and independent-living, where she provides her talents to many seniors.
“It’s a ministry for me and I’m just thankful that God called me to serve our elderly,” Elizabeth says.
Elizabeth learned about the discounted mammogram program for financially qualifying individuals during a physical exam required by her employer.
“I had to have a physical for my job and they asked me, ‘When was my last mammogram?’ I told them I hadn’t had one in years. They said it was very important that I do that once a year and referred me to Mercy. And I’ve been going there ever since.”
After benefiting from the mammograms, Elizabeth is cancer free and confident she’ll remain that way, thanks to your support.
