Prior to moving to Lima, Connie Hutson enjoyed care from a women’s wellness physician. Now, thanks to you, she’s found that kind of care right here in our community. As a result, she feels more balanced and in harmony with herself. 

“Living in Houston, Texas, you had everything available to you,” she says. “When my husband retired and we moved back to Lima, I thought, ‘Well, I’ll just find another women’s health provider.’ I couldn’t find anyone for six months! Then the new Women’s Health Center opened.” 

The Mercy Health — St. Rita’s Women’s Health Center is a dedicated space designed to provide comprehensive, whole-person care for women at every stage of life. It brings together services such as mental health counseling, nutrition support, hormone replacement therapy, clinical massage/stretch, and medical weight management under one roof. And it is funded by donors like you. 

“Women face different health challenges than what men do,” Connie says. “It wasn’t until 1993 that the National Institutes of Health started researching women. They found that we have heart attacks differently than men, we have strokes differently. So, we need places that focus on women’s health.” 

Connie also enjoys the comradery the Center brings to women in our area. 

“I attend the Women’s Wellness Monthly group and I’m meeting women from neighboring counties. They are coming in because there is a need for these services,” she says. “And it’s exciting to see women talk about their health. It’s like suddenly, ‘I’m important now!’”

Connie is so grateful for your support of women’s health. 

“I’m so appreciative of the donors who provide this center and these services. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that people care about us.”
