Help pregnant women and new moms take great care of their baby
Your support helps provide essential resources for young moms like Alexis
The first time that Alexis Williams got pregnant, she was fifteen years old. Her mom knew that she would need help. Thankfully, donor-supported programs like Resource Mothers from Mercy Health — Lorain Hospital were there to help her daughter.
“It felt like my Resource Mother was my friend and I had someone to talk to,” Alexis recalls. “I got a lot of information from her.”
Recently, Alexis became pregnant with her third child. She remembered that support and enrolled in the program again.
“It is nice to have somebody when, sometimes, you don’t really have somebody.”
Through Resource Mothers, which you support with your gift, Alexis has been taking classes that focus on infant CPR and nutrition. She has received education on “Infant Safe Sleep” and has access to even more resources from the Lorain Public Library.
Importantly, Resource Mothers has also connected her to a community of other moms. These relationships provided her critical help in breastfeeding her newborn daughter.
“When you are breastfeeding, it can be really hard,” she says. “Knowing that other moms are doing it and we have a lot of help in the community is nice.”
Alexis says that Resource Mothers has helped her become more knowledgeable about parenting. She is grateful for the knowledge and support that you have provided through the program.
“Thank you,” she says. “We appreciate you because Resource Mothers really helps. We appreciate the help.”
