Mercy Health - Cincinnati, OH

Thanks to you, Dr. Ati has more ways to improve his performance.

Dr. Ghaith Ati is a behavioral health resident in Mercy Health’s Graduate Medical Education program. He is training to become the kind of physician every patient deserves. Your gift to provide video technology will help him do it. Thanks to you, residents have a powerful new tool to improve their skills.

“Our program is led by pretty forward-thinking people. They’re always on the lookout for ways to improve our learning and improve patient care,” he says.

Introducing cameras into the equation was a way to do both. Recording appointments between resident and patient turns them into learning resources. Afterward, the resident and an attending physician watch the interaction together to look for areas to improve.

“It helps point out things like body language, the education we’re giving to the patients and the timing of our delivery. It allows us to improve upon these points by giving us a more comprehensive view of our performance,” he says.

There are benefits to the patient as well. An unobtrusive camera is much different than having another human being — an attending physician — in the room. In behavioral health interview situations, comfort is vital to effective communication. And, of course, all patients are made aware of the camera and its purpose. Only patients who consent are recorded.

Dr. Ati wants you to know that your gift to provide this training tool is important and impactful.

“You can rest assured that your donation is an investment in the future of excellent patient care,” he says. “I know the transformative power that donations make on our practice because I see it day in and day out.”
