For Chris Meister, giving back is about being an active part of the community he calls home. He’s a Springfield native and long-time supporter of Mercy Health Foundation Clark & Champaign Counties. Chris became involved because he wanted to help strengthen an institution that matters to his family and community. 

“I want the hospitals here to be really good,” he says. “Especially when my grandparents or someone in my family needs care.” 

Chris believes young people sometimes underestimate the difference they can make through philanthropy. You don’t need great wealth or your name on a building to contribute. 

“You don’t have to be a billionaire to make an impact,” he says. “A little bit can go a long way.” 

Chris actively encourages others to learn about the organizations they support and find a way to get involved. 

“There are lots of ways to give back,” he says. “Even a small gift can make an impact.”
