Make a Difference
Ensure every person gets excellent, compassionate care
Everyone deserves great health care, close to home
An excellent patient experience and access to medical care are important for healing and quality of life
Our donors make a difference every day in many ways, large and small. The skilled and compassionate care you expect from Bon Secours is enhanced by gifts to the Foundation.
When our care teams need a piece of equipment or other resources to take good care of our patients, donations are a vital source of funding for unforeseen costs. When our patients are uninsured or can't afford care, donations cover the cost of things they need to get well. When new programs and services are needed to deliver health care in communities across the Richmond area, donations make it possible.
You can direct your gift for the greatest needs to improve patient care or even designate it to support one of our specific patient-care related services.
Patient Assistance Programs
After leaving the hospital, many patients need medications or special equipment to continue their recovery. Each of our Richmond-area hospitals has a donor-supported patient care fund (sometimes known as a Good Help or Good Samaritan Fund) to help pay for patients’ needs as they continue healing at home. Every dollar you contribute goes toward helping patients with things like:
- Prescriptions
- Medical equipment
- Special preemie car seats
- Groceries for those who can’t work during recovery
You can direct your gift to any of our hospitals' patient assistance funds.
- Memorial Regional Medical Center Good Help Fund
- Rappahannock General Hospital Care Fund
- Richmond Community Hospital Good Help Fund
- Southern Virginia Medical Center Good Help Fund
- Southside Medical Center Good Help Fund
- St. Francis Care Fund
- St. Mary’s Hospital Good Samaritan Fund

Instructive Visiting Nurse Association (IVNA)
Our IVNA team is an important part of Bon Secours' home health services and community wellness resources. Our visiting nurses and home health staff can provide care that helps prevent patients from going into the hospital or emergency room again.
Each year IVNA nurses give over 20,000 vaccinations throughout Richmond and surrounding communities. And thanks to donors like you, adults and children can get immunizations and home health care regardless of their ability to pay.
