Community Funding

Grey Nuns Community Fund

Local nonprofits can apply for grant funding from the Mercy Health Foundation

Partner with us to improve the health and welfare of people across northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan

The Mercy Health Foundation is committed to saving and improving lives, both inside Mercy Health facilities and through outreach programs and partnerships across the region. We are blessed with financial resources to support other worthy nonprofit organizations that have similarly aligned goals, thanks to the Grey Nuns Community Fund that was established to continue the mission, values and philosophy of the Grey Nuns.

Eligible local nonprofits can apply for funding through our online application process if the organization meets the following criteria:

  • Has limited opportunity for private or public support from other sources
  • Uses innovative approaches to achieve specific and lasting improvements in the lives of the poor and underserved
  • Feeds the hungry, clothes the naked, houses the homeless, improves neighborhood collaborations and/or provides access to health care

We invite you to partner with the Mercy Health Foundation by requesting funding for your project that will help change lives, create thriving communities and give everyone the opportunity for a better, healthier future.

Funding requests are only accepted through our online portal. Start a new application for funding or return to a saved application to complete your organization's funding request.

Funding priorities reflect those of the Grey Nuns founder, Marguerite d’Youville, including:

  • Underserved children and their families
  • The frail elderly
  • Activities which reduce dependency, promote self-help and create access to the economic mainstream
  • Programs that address the underlying causes of poverty among children and families
  • Neighborhood efforts that empower families to work together to achieve specific and lasting improvements in their community

Our Grey Nuns Community Fund does not generally make grants to organizations whose primary mission is education, nor does it fund multi-year proposals, general operating expenses or salaries.
