Your support of occupational therapy services got Jordan back on the road
Jordan Spackman’s life changed when he had a serious motorcycle accident in June of 2019. Thanks to your gift, he got back in the driver’s seat safely.
His accident resulted in a traumatic brain injury. Although he had fully recovered, there was still a piece missing that would really get him back on his feet: being able to keep his commercial driver’s license. This was critical in getting Jordan back to work at his job as a truck driver.
“The injury affected my eligibility to have my license renewed,” Jordan said. “I needed a medical certificate, and really didn’t know what to do. I was a bit dejected thinking this is going to be the end of something important to me."
He happened to see a billboard for the Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center. He reached out to them for help and was put in touch with Mercy Health's St. Charles Occupational Therapy.
“They put me in contact with an occupational therapist who specializes in driver evaluations,” Jordan said. “It was a very extensive evaluation and at the end they saw no reason I couldn’t return for my full certification."
“After a doctor reviewed the report, I was able to get my license again. It was 100 percent successful!”
Jordan wants you to know how much he appreciates your support of the neuroscience programs.
“Being able to pass the exam and maintain my certification meant so much to me,” he said. “It was a small but important victory for me after the accident.”
