There are multiple checks and balances because of the high stakes of radiation therapy in general,” says Dr. David Barron, radiation oncologist. “We have to make sure we have the quality assurance. We employ multiple steps to ensure that the right part of the body is being treated and that it’s being treated with high fidelity. “ 

Dr. Barron is even branching out in the field of radiation. Your gift helps him explore how to bring even more services to the community. There are benign treatments that are showing promise for common issues like arthritis and joint pain. 

“Joint replacement may not be the next step for patients in some instances now,” he says. “It might be something more conservative that we can try with little downside. It may buy a patient a few more months, a few more years, and in some cases, it may completely remove the need for a replacement.”
