Donations ensure community screenings and education help people prevent cancer or detect it in early, treatable stages. And our oncology focused facilities are modernized and updated to ensure cancer patients have a comfortable environment while receiving treatments.
You can designate your gift to the Cancer Care Fund to support the full complement of oncology services available at Mercy Health or direct your donation to a specific cancer-related program or facility.
Cancer Care Fund
Your donation to the Cancer Care Fund gives Mercy Health the flexible funding to address the evolving needs for cancer care here in the Mahoning Valley. Charitable giving allows for ongoing facility updates, new medical technology and equipment to diagnose and treat many types of cancer, financial assistance for cancer patients, and even a nutrition program that helps patients get healthy foods through a partnership with an organic farm. No matter the latest need to battle cancer, Mercy Health has the resources available to provide new services that save and improve the lives of people with cancer.

Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center
The Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center (JACBCC) provides award-winning breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment by a team of specialists, all under one roof. For those battling cancer, having the JACBCC here in Youngstown removes the burden and expense of seeking treatment an hour or more away from home.
Since before the Center opened, donor support has been vital in providing this needed service for our community. Donations to the Foundation for the Joanie Abdu Center are used to purchase the latest technology and equipment, maintain the facility and make needed updates, build a healing garden, launch the Joanie on the Go mobile mammography unit and expand the Center to additional sites in new locations.
With your help, the JACBCC can continue to deliver the most accurate prevention, early detection, diagnosis and support services available in an environment of compassionate and coordinated care.

Man Up Mahoning Valley Prostate Cancer Fund
Did you know studies show men are up to 50% less likely to seek medical care? That's why donations for our Man Up Mahoning Valley program are so important. Your support helps raise awareness about the importance of routine prostate cancer screenings and encourage men to prioritize their health.
The fund supports prostate cancer screenings, awareness events like No Shave November and provides funding for a cancer navigator to assist cancer patients. It also enables our focused programming that encourages African American men—who are at higher risk of developing prostate cancer—to prioritize their wellness.
