Rising Star Medical Intern Program
Designed to increase diversity in the health care field, this paid internship for high school juniors and seniors gives students firsthand experience working in many clinical and administrative departments of the hospital over the summer.
The Rising Star program can only be offered at Mercy Health Lorain Hospital with financial support from the Foundation's donors. The opportunity to shadow doctors, surgeons, nurses, other medical professionals and administrative staff has inspired many of the program's interns to pursue health care careers. A number of physicians and nurses now working at Mercy Health Lorain Hospital participated in the Rising Stars program.

Graduate Medical Education
Coming soon, with help from donors like you! A $1.75 million fundraising effort is under way to launch a new GME medical residency program at Mercy Health in Lorain. The GME residency provides additional training for physicians after medical school, allowing them to specialize and practice independently.
Donations for Graduate Medical Education are essential for facility renovations, furnishings and equipment to provide classroom, skills lab and administrative spaces for the program. Recruiting future doctors to Lorain for their residency helps prevent physician shortages in much-needed specialties and allows residents to learn from our skilled and experienced physicians and medical staff at Mercy Health.

The Foundation provides a number of scholarships for high-achieving students, minorities and dependents of Mercy Health employees, with a priority for students within health care fields.
