As chaplain at Mercy Health Urbana Hospital, and pastor at Messiah Lutheran Church, Ray Branstiter knows the importance of giving. He gives to others as part of his mission. And, he gives to provide quality health care to his community.

“We are instructed by scripture that to give is a continuous contribution to God’s word,” he says. “Feed the hungry, clothe the naked.”

His gifts have helped him invest in that mission for his community. Recently, Ray was inspired to work with his church to support the MedAssist Program.

“During a special course of study in small town and rural churches, I learned that people sometimes cannot afford their medication and have to forego medicines,” he says.

Now, through his donations, Ray and his church are helping to ensure that is not a problem for Urbana.

“This is very important for the Foundation to support because it helps people get the medication and services they need.”
