When Jean Hodge faced a dental emergency, your gifts to the Kikel Mobile Dental Clinic made it possible for her to get relief in minutes instead of hours.
Her day had started with excruciating pain from a broken tooth. The receptionist at her dental clinic warned her that she would have to wait until all patients with appointments had been seen. Only then would “walk-ins” like herself have their chance.
Jean arrived at 8 a.m. expecting to wait for hours. To her surprise, a man came into the waiting room not long after and said, “I think I have a plan.”
That plan was the Kikel Mobile Dental Clinic. Jean almost couldn’t believe her eyes when the doors to the van flung open to reveal two full dental stations, a dentist, a dental hygienist, a dental assistant and a wall full of equipment.
“I was amazed. It was just like any other dentist’s office. They took an X-ray and explained it all.”
An x-ray revealed that Jean's tooth could not be repaired, and would need to be extracted instead. The whole process took only 40 minutes and Jean was on her way.
The mobile dental clinic provides dental care access to the uninsured and underinsured in Mahoning Valley. After a serious fall forced her into early retirement, Jean was pleased to find a practice that didn’t make her feel less for having financial struggles.
