Don gives because great health care is good business for his community
A lifelong Lorain County resident, Don Knechtges is passionate about the economic vitality of northeast Ohio. He understands how health care and economic success go hand in hand.
“I always believe that if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything,” Don says. “And that goes for communities as well as people.”
“Health care is the base upon which you grow economic development and grow the overall well-being of a community.”
Don served on the hospital’s board of trustees for nine years. He has worked with the Mercy Health Foundation to fill funding gaps for critical services for the poor and underserved in Lorain. That experience guides his giving today.
“The best contribution you can make to the Foundation is to help with the greatest needs, if you are in agreement with their mission,” he says. “My wife and I give because we are committed to that mission.”
