Your Support Gives Caregivers a Moment to Recharge

Tea for the Soul provides a break for busy Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital staff members. Amanda Yanchus, lead mammographer for the Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Health, is a regular attendee. She is grateful for the emotional support you provide with your gift.

“You can’t pour from an empty cup,” says Amanda. “We spend so much of our day in health care pouring into others. If you don’t replenish yourself, it’s hard to do that.”

After several years as lead CT technologist at St. Francis, Amanda moved to the Breast Center, where the emotional toll is higher.

“Mammography is one of the most anxiety-producing modalities within radiology,” she says. “Statistics say one in eight women in their lifetime will be diagnosed with breast cancer. When you face that every day with the volume of patients we see, we must wear our compassionate armor and be ready to help people cope with anxiety.”

Tea for the Soul is made possible by your support. Staff members can stop by, have a snack, and visit. They can even unwind with one of the therapy dogs, who are honored guests at the events.

“It gives me that moment to just take a pause,” says Amanda.

Amanda is also glad that her own donations help make the events possible.

“I like that I’m helping provide this opportunity for my co-workers. We work closely with the Foundation. To see this aspect of their work, giving back to our employees, is wonderful,” she says.
