Elizabeth River Crossings pledged funds to Bon Secours Hampton Roads Foundation for every trail lap walked

The funds will support the construction of the new Bon Secours Women's Imaging Center in Portsmouth, VA

On November 13, 2024, Elizabeth River Crossings (ERC) gave Bon Secours Hampton Roads Foundation a special gift. They'd pledged a donation for every lap their employees walked on their trail in October. As you may know, October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fittingly, ERC directed their gift to the new Bon Secours Women's Imaging Center coming to Portsmouth.

Due to socioeconomic and geographic factors, more women in Portsmouth die from breast cancer than elsewhere in Virginia. Bon Secours aims to combat this by bringing mammography to the city. Planned near public transportation, the Women's Imaging Center will give the underserved easy access to quality care.

The need for the Women's Imaging Center resonated with ERC employees, who got to walking. Together, they completed total of 1,314 laps and raised $3,578 for the Foundation! These crucial funds will help give women in Portsmouth the best chance to fight breast cancer. We are so grateful to ERC for their generosity and to their employees for their dedication.

If you'd like to be part of bringing the Women's Imaging Center to life, there's still time. The Foundation continues to fundraise toward its $250,000 total goal. And it's a great time to get involved, as there's a current challenge grant goal to raise $125,000. When you give, you help Bon Secours improve the care gap for disadvantaged residents.
