Care for Those in Need

Make an Impact

Everyone needs life-saving health care for a better life. You can help.

Nobody should have to choose between paying their bills or getting medical care and medications

Our assistance programs help people get the health care services they need, even if they don’t have insurance or the ability to pay

At Bon Secours, our Mission isn't a plaque on the wall. It's our calling, our True North. Patient assistance programs are just one way we improve the health and well-being of our communities and bring good help to those in need, especially to those who are poor, dying and underserved.

But we need your help. Your generous support means the most vulnerable people in our community can access resources for better health.

Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Program

Cancer care for people ages 14 to 39 can be especially challenging. Most programs are designed for children or adults. Thanks to ongoing support from St. Francis Foundation donors, these young people get specialized cancer treatment and support for the unique needs they and their family members may have, especially if they lack financial resources.

The Hawkins Center for Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Care is also a place where patients and families can socialize and support each other. And donations ensure AYA patients are directed to resources for tuition, utilities, food, transportation, copays, medical bills and other basic life needs.

Misiaveg Home Care Patient & Family Support Fund

Sometimes the best place for a person to get health care from Bon Secours is in their own home.

Gifts for the Misiaveg Home Care Patient & Family Support Fund ensure home health nurses have the equipment and supplies to care for people in their homes and financially qualifying patients get the support they need to continue healing outside of the hospital.

Your donation can help with needs as they arise, such as:

  • Scales
  • Stethoscopes
  • Glucometers
  • Wheelchair ramp
  • Assistance with utility bills

This fund began with an initial gift from Suzanne and Bill Misiaveg, longtime St. Francis advocates and donors. Many donors have followed their lead to ensure home care patients are well supported as they return to good health.

Louis P. Batson, Jr. Oncology Patient Support

People taking treatments for cancer or recovering from bone marrow transplant often face financial challenges because they're unable to work. The St. Francis Foundation depends on donations to this fund so all financially qualifying cancer patients can get resources to help with expenses like:

  • Prescriptions
  • Utilities and household expenses
  • Transportation to treatments and medical appointments
  • Lodging near the hospital after bone marrow transplant

The oncology patient support fund is named in honor of passionate long-time St. Francis board member Louis P. Batson, Jr. Over six decades, Batson was involved in many fundraising campaigns to enhance St. Francis services and meet the needs of patients.

Project SEARCH

Donations designated for Project SEARCH provide more internship opportunities than ever for students with disabilities, as the in-demand program continues to expand. These young adults learn relevant, marketable skills during their internship at Bon Secours St. Francis. Between 80 and 100 percent of Project SEARCH students find employment by the time they graduate from the program.

Your gift helps maintain the Joseph J. Pazdan Project SEARCH Center where interns participate in classroom and skill training, as well as costs for the program, equipment, computers and transportation.

Breast Health Screening Fund

Donations ensure no woman is turned away from life-saving breast screenings simply because she doesn't have medical insurance or the ability to pay. Whether a woman schedules an exam at the Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Health or a Mobile Mammography coach in her community, the Breast Health Screening Fund will help her get the testing she needs to detect any signs of breast cancer when it is most treatable.
