Meet Tim Detty

Tim Detty remembers what it was like to be a 5-year-old child in the hospital with pneumonia.

“It was frightening to be that young and in an oxygen tent,” he said.

Tim still has a teddy bear he received from the hospital staff—a small gesture of kindness—that made all the difference.

“It really made me feel safe. He was my best buddy.”

Now he wants to make sure that hospitalized children today have their own best buddy. He is choosing to give to Mercy Health Foundation to supply teddy bears and other services in pediatrics.

“If I can put a smile on a child’s face, it is one of the best things I can do,” he said. “It sure makes me feel good.”
