The Kortes give to the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center because hospice was important for their family

Caroline Korte lost her mother, her father and her sister to cancer. Because of distance, Caroline struggled to be with them during their end-of-life care. Fortunately, a local hospice team was.

“The love, compassion and support that hospice provided to my family when they were sick was invaluable,” she says.

Inspired by that experience, Caroline and her husband, Steve, became donors and volunteers of the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.

“I could sit with someone to give their caregivers some respite or to be another friendly face. Someone from hospice did that for my family too.”

Caroline and her husband Steve believe in giving back to their community.

“It amazes me the outreach of the Foundation,” she says, adding that she is grateful to be a small part of it.

“God loves a cheerful giver,” she says. “When you give and see the ripple effects of that giving in the community, it brings back to you multiple times the joy.”
