Your support for the Neonatal Care Unit helped KJ get stronger after he was born eight weeks early

New parents walk with their newborn baby and a doctor through the Mack Pazdan Neonatal Care Unit.

Logan Parks had a difficult pregnancy, leading her doctors to decide that it was safer for both mother and child if her baby was born early. When baby KJ entered the world eight weeks early, he weighed only three pounds and two ounces.

Immediately after he was born, doctors rushed KJ to the Mack Pazdan Neonatal Care Unit at Bon Secours St. Francis, a new Level II facility supported, in part, by donations like yours. What Logan saw there put her at ease.

“Because of you, my son was able to get healthy before he came home. Now at three months old, he weighs 14 pounds and he’s chunky and happy. That’s because of the care he was able to get in the Neonatal Care Unit.”

“Going into such a scary situation, having a C-section and a preemie born at 32 weeks was so overwhelming,” Logan says. “I fell in love with the NCU. KJ had his own room with a couch that pulled into a bed so I could stay with him.”

“If I had to go home, I would come back to notes from them about what had happened while I was gone,” she adds. “There was never a point when KJ was in the NCU where I felt like my child wasn’t being taken care of.”

Logan is grateful that your support allows the NCU to be there when families like hers need it the most.
