Joyce Bartish loved being a nurse. She found a family of like-minded caregivers at Mercy Health - West Hospital, where she worked for 22 years. Joyce passed away in 2017, but her memory lives on through the Joyce Bartish Educational Fund.

“Her passion was bedside nursing,” says David Bartish, Joyce’s husband of 35 years. “She simply loved being in front of patients. Joyce established a reputation amongst her peers as a model nurse.”

“Joyce loved learning about her profession. We created a fund to educate nurses and help pay for professional advancement programs.”

After Joyce's passing, David wanted to create a lasting legacy for his wife. He knew she would want help other nurses get as much joy out of the profession as she did.

“It’s just perfect. We received many donations when she passed and I continue to donate every year. The fund keeps her spirit alive."
