Thanks to your gifts, young patients like Hunter receive books at doctor visits to encourage reading at home

Hunter O’Brien is learning to read. That means he's spending a lot of time reading with his family. And thanks to you, he’s got the materials to do it. Because donors like you support the Reach Out and Read Program, Hunter has a library of his own. He receives a book at every visit with his pediatrician Dr. Paul.

The Reach Out and Read Program provides books to families to aid in early childhood development. Reading at home helps to ensure that children do not fall behind in reaching education and mental goals. Hunter’s mom, Abigail, values the program for many reasons.

“Hunter loves it. He gets excited to go to the doctor when it's book day.”

A holistic wellness approach is something that also resonates with Abigail. She will be welcoming her second child soon and feels fortunate to have such great care.

“As someone who loves books, I’m happy to see others believe reading is important for our kids,” she says. “It also shows how much we care about our youth beyond just their health.”

Abigail is grateful that your support makes the program possible for Hunter, and her family.

“You will never understand the amount of joy it brings me. I love to see the smile on my child’s face every time he lights up over a new book provided by this program,” she says. “We truly appreciate this program and great moments and bonding that stems from these books.”
