Thanks to donors, Estine has great care close to home
As a member of the hospital auxiliary, Estine Tipton is passionate about the care Mercy Health — Marcum and Wallace Hospital provides. She’s especially grateful for the outpatient infusion clinic donors support with their gifts.
“I can’t take pills because of my stomach. So, I get iron infusions when my blood work is low,” Estine says. “I also get an infusion for osteoporosis twice a year.”
Thanks to donor generosity, Marcum and Wallace offers outpatient infusion services. Patients receive medications or fluids through an IV without being admitted to the hospital. Treatments include antibiotics for infections, iron infusions for anemia and hydration therapy.
“If I couldn’t go here for my infusion, I’d have to go out of town – and I don’t drive out of town because I’m 86,” Estine says. “Or I’d need someone to take me. This hospital is just five minutes away. That makes all the difference.”
Estine is grateful to all who contribute to quality, local health care through donations to the Foundation. She and her daughters are donors themselves.
“I love everyone at Marcum and Wallace, and I know most of them. I just feel better going there, because I know who’s taking care of me,” she says. “I would like to say thank you to all the donors because they make it possible for me to go and do my outpatient infusions. I really appreciate it.”
