Why I Give: I give because our hospital is a blessing
Barsha Honchell has seen how important Mercy Health — Marcum and Wallace Hospital is to her community. But she also knows how vital it has been to her personally.
“I will always be grateful to the mammography department for finding my breast cancer 10 years ago,” she says. “I chose to support the hospital after serving on the Mercy Health Foundation Irvine board. Until then, I didn’t realize how important even small donations can be.”
Fittingly, Barsha’s first gift was to help purchase a 3-D mammography machine to support breast health services. Barsha knows how lucky Irvine is to have a hospital. That’s why she has given her time and money to support it.
“Living in a small community, it is so important to give,” she says. “I love telling people about how wonderful the hospital is. And I love encouraging others to donate so it can keep providing the best services available.”
