Dr. Port gives to honor lives well lived
As a primary care provider, Dr. John Port recognizes the importance of hospice in end-of-life care. But when he lost his friend, colleague and mentor last year, John saw it firsthand.
“Dr. Alfred Rogers inspired me to remain in primary care,” he said. “It was an honor to work with him in the clinic focusing on men’s health and wellness. He was a triathlete, a marathoner and an amazing human being whose patients adored him.”
When Dr. Rogers lost his battle with brain cancer a year ago, he was receiving end-of-life care at Bon Secours Community Hospice House.
“It was devastating for us but seeing the caregivers at Hospice House and the great work they do made it much easier by ensuring a peaceful transition for him.”
“Because I was able to see the support given and the great resources that Hospice House had to offer, I was inspired to donate in his honor.”
