Omar’s Story

Make an Impact

Bon Secours - Greenville, SC

You helped Omar get back on his feet only a few days after heart surgery

It was a family history of heart problems that sent Victor “Omar” Zambrano to get some baseline tests. And thanks to your generosity, he discovered his heart was already in trouble.

Omar, a very active cyclist, felt great and was having the tests done just as a precautionary measure. The initial test showed there was a blockage somewhere and that’s when he came to Bon Secours St. Francis to see exactly where it might be.

“I went in with the thought they might have to put in a stent,” Omar says. “But it turned out to be much more than that. With six blocked arteries—some at 80 and 90 percent—I was at an extremely high risk of having a massive heart attack.”

He immediately went into surgery, and because he was in such excellent health otherwise, was released just a few days later. He credits your contribution to acquire the latest equipment and training for the great care he received.

“My surgery only took about four hours. My father had the same surgery years ago and it took 10 to 12 hours,” Omar says. “Thanks to the high quality of care, I was allowed to go home after just the weekend for recovery.”

He wants you to know how grateful he is for your donation.

“Thank you to the donors who contribute to keep the equipment up to date allowing these surgeries to be so efficient. Your investment in new technologies saves patients like me.”
