Detective Cobb gives to honor a nurse fighting on the front lines against COVID-19

When Detective Steven Cobb was volunteering at an orphanage in Thailand, he worked with a Mercy Health nurse practitioner who made a lasting impression on him long after he returned to the United States.

“Serving other people in uncomfortable places and maintaining a high level of compassion isn’t easy,” he said. “As a fellow first responder, it was really cool to see her in action and it was an honor to help her out.”

“In a health crisis, it’s easy to feel helpless. But we can give to help the people on the front lines. It’s a great way to be part of the healing.”

That connection of empathy to everyone on the front lines inspired Detective Cobb to donate to Mercy Health during the COVID-19 crisis.

“As first responders, we have to be the first and best example of sacrifice to others,” he said. “If everyone could give just a little bit, we’d all be in a better place.”
