When Diane Bell was first diagnosed with cancer, she was afraid. But then she remembered what her husband taught her during his own cancer battle.

“He wasn’t downhearted or crying,” she says. “So, I decided to just keep laughing through life and to keep faith in God.”

To keep her upbeat attitude, Diane immediately went out and bought t-shirts with funny and defiant sayings on them.

Diane also had the Mercy Health — St. Rita’s Cancer Center on her side where she received comprehensive, life-saving care for her cancer. Diane says that the Cancer Center in her community was instrumental in getting her successfully through her chemo and radiation treatments, all with a smile on her face and an upbeat attitude. She says that Center staff took her mission to heart and played along with her jokes and positivity.

“The Cancer Center is great,” she says. “I’ve thanked God for it many times.”

She is especially thankful for your support of the Center and everything that it provides for patients like her.

“Bless God that donors are there,” she says. “Without you, it would be a lot harder.”
