Bon Secours - Hampton Roads, VA

Our community has a place to gather for support and education because of you

Keeping active in their community is important to Donald and June Strippel, which is why they have enjoyed attending events at the Mary Immaculate Community Education & Health Resource Center on the campus of Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital. Community members like the Strippels use the Center to attend everything from support group meetings to kindergarten readiness programs.

“We really appreciate the Senior Health Lunch & Learn sessions held at the Resource and Education Center. We’ve been able to learn so much. We have speakers who talk about safety and security issues, or sometimes it is an arts and crafts project,” said June.

“We even had a pharmacist from the hospital talk to us about drug interactions and how to properly take medications,” Donald said. “That was very helpful to everyone there.”

The Mary Immaculate Community Education & Health Resource Center is a safe place for many programs and events

Your gift to renovate the Education & Health Resource Center is keeping these and other important programs available for our community. Prior to the pandemic, more than 1,500 people use the facility each month, and thanks to you, updates are being made to renovate meeting rooms and purchase new furniture, as well as improve the infrastructure of rooms used for meetings and exercise classes.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the Resource and Education Center has not been open for many public events during the renovations but has been used for vaccine clinics and staff purposes. The Strippels and others are looking forward to returning to events and classes at the new and improved facility thanks to your donation.

“The programs are interesting, informative and entertaining. We have a chance to meet new people and we are really looking forward to getting back to it."
