Thanks to you, Travis was able to partner with Clermont Hospital to secure health care for his students
Clermont Northeastern Schools serve students who live within 75-80 square miles. Surprisingly, there wasn’t a single doctor’s office in that area until school officials like Travis Dorsey, Dean of Students, came up with a plan.
“It was really crucial for us to create an environment within our school district to bring health care into these buildings,” he recalls.
Travis and school leaders approached Mercy Health's Clermont Hospital and sought partners to support funding for a school-based clinic.
Travis says your donations made this resource possible for his community. “From the very first meeting with Mercy Health, it seemed like a really good fit,” he says.
The school clinic opened its doors in 2020, providing well-visit physicals and vaccinations to students, faculty and staff, along with care for injuries and illnesses.
“It has increased our vaccinations and immunizations. We walk kids over from the elementary schools for well-child checks, and that prevents our parents from having to miss work.”
“I don’t think we would be where we are right now with the clinic we have if it wasn’t for our partners like Mercy Health,” he says. “It’s a tremendous resource, and it feels good to know those opportunities are there because of the work we put into providing school-based health care.”
“The donations made to the Mercy Health Foundation that allow these visions to become reality are life-changing for families,” he says. “I don’t think saying thank you does justice to an opportunity like this.”
