Ensure great specialized care for women of all ages

Bon Secours — Richmond, VA

Donors gave Meredith’s twins a healthy start

As a nurse, Meredith Martin knew exactly where to turn when she learned that her twins would need specialized neonatal care. She went to the Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital NICU that donors support with their gifts.

Meredith says that she and her husband were in awe of the care that they received, even through many ups and downs.

“The resources my babies had were invaluable,” Meredith says. “The nurses had appropriate training to teach our babies how to eat, suckle and lay.”

Importantly, since the twins were born right before Christmas, Meredith was grateful that St. Mary’s was close to home.

“I can’t imagine if we’d had to leave my other children [for an extended period] to have to take care of my babies,” she says.

Now, with healthy babies and a healthy family, Meredith and her husband continue to be grateful for donor support. In fact, they are supporters of the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation themselves. They call the decision a “no-brainer.”

“Babies are the most vulnerable patients in any hospital,” she says. “Because of my positive experience, I am able to give to other families who are in even more vulnerable positions than my babies were. I can provide my time and money now as a thank you but there are no words that are enough.”

“My twins are perfectly healthy. They are going to live happy long lives. I couldn’t have said that if they didn’t have the care they received at St. Mary’s.”
