Support compassionate cancer services that save lives

Bon Secours – Greenville, SC

Donors brought mobile cancer screening to Susie’s workplace

Susie Canfield was considering putting off a mammogram this year. It was donor support of mobile mammography that made the difference. And because of their generosity, Susie discovered she had an aggressive form of breast cancer.

Like so many women, Susie juggles career, family and household responsibilities. Scheduling health care appointments can be the first thing to get overlooked. Especially after her mammogram last year showed no issues. Susie wasn’t planning on getting another so soon. But when she saw the mobile mammography unit at work one day, she changed her mind.

“When the bus came to my place of employment, I jumped at the chance to sign up,” Susie says. “I did not have to drive anywhere or lose hours out of my day.

Each year mobile mammography provides thousands of screenings across the Greenville area. Thanks to donors, busy women like Susie can stay on top of their health.

“It was so convenient to take 15 minutes, have my screening done, and return to my office,” Susie says. “Had the bus not been easily accessible, I would not have scheduled a mammogram for a few years. That would have seriously delayed the discovery and treatment of my cancer.”

Susie said she is forever grateful for the mobile mammography unit.

“After using this service, I wish more companies would take advantage of it for their employees,” she says. “The ease of use, and convenience of service takes the excuses away for not having the screening. Early detection saves lives.”
