Paisley was born premature, but in caring hands thanks to you

During her second pregnancy, Amiya Dibble suffered from life-threatening high blood pressure. As a result, she gave birth to daughter Paisley at St. Francis Eastside Hospital after only 32 weeks.

At just over 3 pounds, tiny Paisley was in respiratory distress and had to be placed on a ventilator. Thanks to your support of the Bon Secours St. Francis Foundation, the Level II Neonatal Care Unit (NCU) at St. Francis had the special X-ray equipment necessary to care for Paisley.

“We were so relieved, because we wanted to have her at St. Francis,” Amiya says. “My husband and I would like to thank the donors from the bottom of our hearts. It was such a relief that Paisley was able to stay where we had originally intended for her to be born. It would have been very stressful if she had been transferred and I would have worried more.”

The specialized X-ray plates provided by donors are sized for infants and small children. Paisley’s NCU care team used X-rays to make sure Paisley was properly intubated, and to check the development of her lungs as she grew.

Paisley is home now, tipping the scales at a healthy 5 pounds, 5 ounces and growing fast. She and her family are thriving. Her big sister Haven just adores her. The comfort that family brings is why Amiya was so intent on having her at St. Francis.

“St. Francis is such a close close-knit, small NCU team,” Amiya says. “It’s a really wonderful place to have your baby.”
