Critical Care Transport Vehicle

Save Lives

Ensure the sickest patients can be transported with life-saving equipment on board

Make a difference for critically ill patients that need to be transported

Help Bon Secours add a state-of-the-art Critical Care Transport vehicle to our EMS fleet

When a patient needs a specialized level of care that isn't available at the hospital where they are admitted, it can be necessary to transport them to one of our Bon Secours facilities. These high-risk, critically ill patients need more than the standard ambulance. They require a "mobile intensive care unit" to be safely moved, in case their condition deteriorates and becomes life-threatening during transport.

Will you consider a donation to help purchase a new Critical Care Transport vehicle to serve critically ill patients and their families throughout Richmond and neighboring communities? It's a journey that is not just about miles traveled, but lives saved. Join us!

The Bon Secours Mercy Health Foundation is coordinating fundraising efforts to help purchase an additional well-equipped Critical Care Transport vehicle. This specially outfitted ambulance can accommodate the patient and as many as six rapid response medical care providers that stay in constant contact with emergency physicians and nurses at the receiving hospital. The vehicle and specialized care team are on call 24/7 and can travel up to 100 miles to care for our sickest patients when they need to be moved to another location.

When a sick infant is born in our community or a critically ill child presents to an emergency department, a standard ambulance is not enough. These special patients require a mobile ICU that can provide the specialized care required by our smallest of patients. These mobile ICUs must be immediately available and maintained with specialized equipment to provide the lifesaving support that we want all children in our community to receive.

Every minute matters in critical situations. Time can mean a different outcome in a cardiac crisis, a stroke, or a pregnancy. Patient recovery significantly improves when physicians stay involved with the patient's care from the moment their travel begins. Our current fleet needs to be expanded to meet Bon Secours' larger service area in and around Richmond and to upgrade to improved recent technology that saves lives.

A new Critical Care Transport Vehicle will offer advanced medical equipment, enhanced safety features and can accommodate patients with a wider range of illnesses and medical crises. With your support, the most vulnerable patients will receive the highest level of care from the moment they leave their doorstep to the doors of our facility.
