Bringing Good Help to Petersburg: The New Care-A-Van Expansion
For over 30 years, the Bon Secours Care-A-Van has delivered compassionate, mobile health care to underserved neighborhoods throughout Richmond, offering vital “good help” to those in need. The new Care-A-Van dedicated to Petersburg and the surrounding communities builds on this legacy, expanding access to primary care, behavioral health services, and wellness support for families who face barriers to traditional care—such as lack of insurance, transportation challenges, or inconsistent access to providers. By bringing care directly into neighborhoods, churches, and community centers, the Care-A-Van eliminates many of the obstacles that prevent people from seeking preventive or ongoing health care, leading to improved health outcomes and reduced reliance on emergency services.
The Petersburg Care-A-Van is more than a mobile clinic—it is a bridge to wellness and community connection. Staffed by skilled providers and community health workers, the van offers screenings, vaccinations, counseling, and referrals to food, housing, and social service resources. This holistic approach ensures that patients are not only treated for medical concerns but also supported in addressing the root causes of poor health. By meeting patients where they are—physically, emotionally, and socially—Bon Secours, with the support of donors like you, continues its work advancing health equity across the region.
