Bon Secours Hampton Roads Foundation welcomes Scott Opperman to Board of Directors
Scott Opperman is joining the Foundation board as a new Sponsor Director, a voting member who was recently appointed by the Bon Secours Mercy Ministries board (the Public Juridic Person sponsor for Bon Secours Mercy Health). Sponsor Directors are appointed to ensure strong Mission alignment with all board decisions.
Scott was hired as Bon Secours Hampton Roads Vice President for Mission in June 2022. He served in various leadership and mission integration roles at Trinity Health in Michigan prior to joining Bon Secours.
In addition to his health care mission leadership, Scott has more than a decade of experience in higher education, including positions in student affairs and teaching. He taught philosophy, theology and ministry in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Scott earned his bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland and master’s degrees in theological studies (from the University of Notre Dame) and religious education (from Loyola University in Chicago). He pursued doctoral studies in philosophical and systematic theology at Durham University in England.
