Floor upgrades make work smoother and safer at Mercy Health - Marcum and Wallace Hospital
Donor support enabled Mercy Health Foundation Irvine to buy $200,000 of new flooring
When you think of upgrading medical facilities, you may not think about floors first. But the floors at Marcum and Wallace Hospital were 20 years old and in need of replacement. They did not match the superior quality of care the hospital provides. Now, thanks to Mercy Health Foundation Irvine supporters, the worn and discolored tiles from 2004 are gone!
In their place is new water-resistant laminate flooring. Covering 30,000 square feet, it has quite the impact, including better first impressions for visitors. It also provides a safer walking surface for patients and staff.
The new floors are a hit with the housekeeping team, too, as the old tile required a laborious sanitizing and waxing process. With the floors easier to clean, they can put more of their time and energy toward inpatient needs. It started with ripping out old tile and it culminates in more attention on patients, who can feel the difference.
This is only the first project in a slate of hospital renovations, scheduled through 2028. When you give to the Foundation, you help improve a community asset that many rely on for health care. With your support, Marcum and Wallace Hospital will be in prime condition for generations to come.

“The new floors are so much easier to clean and have helped to make our jobs easier by eliminating a time-consuming task when cleaning and giving back time to our day.”
